Background question

Does anybody know if you can make part of a backgound appear in front of some objects and behind other objects.

You can check the Foreground Image box in the backgrounds tab to make the backgound appear above everything, but if you want the backgound to appear above only some of the items you will have to use tiles. So sorry, what you wanted to do is not possible.

Thanks I'll use tiles. It's to bad you can't set the backround to a certain depth. They should add that feature to GM9.

they should also let you animate backgrounds in game maker 9

Animated backgrounds would be sweet. Unfortunately this isn't in YoYoGame's plans for GM9.
